What I’m excited to bring to Fitcy Health members:
Dance Movement Psychotherapy is based on the use of movement, talk and creative expression to explore thoughts feelings and experiences. It is centered on the belief that mind and body are not separate entities but instead one. Some sessions are more/less verbal depending on your goals and needs. DMP fosters self-awareness, body awareness, self-esteem, social interactions and trust in relationships among others. DMP is a relational process in which client(s) and therapist interact creatively to communicate and express feelings and thoughts. It is an equal therapeutic relationship where client and therapist set goals and inform the process together. Sessions offer a space that is attentive to each person’s individuality, needs, capacities and resources it isn’t a one size fits all approach. Sessions offer a safe, confidential and judgment free space for everyone irrespective of age, race, religion, culture, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, or cognitive and physical abilities. You do not need to be good at any form of dance to participate and benefit.
