Overview

Ema has been a clinical psychologist for over 15 years – firstly focusing on children and their deve.... Ema has been a clinical psychologist for over 15 years – firstly focusing on children and their development and then went on to working also with adults, always nurturing the importance of the impact of our childhood experiences. Throughout the years she has developed a particular interest in the impact of trauma on human development, and in the delicate processes involved in recovery, very much influenced by the works of Donald Winnicott and Wilfred Bion. Ema has worked in many different contexts (from corporate to more traditional clinical settings), and considers herself a humanist, a pacifist, and an activist for humans rights, particularly children’s and women’s rights. Since 2016 she has been running an NGO which she co-founded: Wave by Wave, a therapeutic group intervention using surfing and the ocean as therapy for kids and youth at risk (namely kids in foster institutions). It has been the journey of a lifetime and one she's immensely proud of, opening her eyes to how unfair the world can sometimes be, but also how hope, valuable human connections – and Nature – can truly support positive change.
